Board your pet with us!

Call us today at (703) 491-1400 to make a boarding reservation for your pet!

Occoquan Animal Hospital offers boarding for previously established patients. Our boarding facility consists of 55+ cages and runs for large dogs. Our boarding wards are divided between small dogs, cats, large dogs and an isolation ward for special cases. All kennel areas are well ventilated and have heating and air conditioning. Dogs are taken outside for walks and spend time in the yard three times a day. All kennels are cleaned three times a day and your pet will always have fresh water, bedding and a litter pan for our feline boarders. Pets are fed according to owner direction and can eat our hospital diet or their own food from home.

Boarding rates are based on the size of your pet and are charged per night. Additional fees would include if your pet needs medication or supplements administered, bath or nail trims when requested and any needed vaccines.

Choosing to board your pet at Occoquan Animal Hospital gives you the added peace of mind that your pet will be in the care of experienced vet assistants, with veterinarians available if needed.

Boarder Requirements

All pets boarding at Occoquan Animal Hospital are required to be up to date on the listed vaccinations, or will need to have their vaccines updated during their stay. This is to ensure the health of all pets boarding with us.

If your pet’s vaccines were given at another animal hospital, please be sure to provide us with the records by email or bring a paper copy with you.

All boarders must arrive free of any external or internal parasites. If your pet is found to have fleas or other parasites they will be treated by a veterinarian at the owner’s expense.

FOOD: We feed our boarders Purina Pro Plan EN, a gastrointestinal friendly veterinary diet. This is included in the cost of boarding.

If you would like to bring your pet’s food from home, please do! Be prepared with instructions letting us know how much you normally feed your pet.

If your pet is on a specific prescription diet, please bring their food from home or we can use food from our hospital pharmacy for an additional fee per day.

If your pet is on medication, please bring it in the original container or with the directions clearly marked. Please do not pre-mix medication into food as we want to be sure your pet is receiving the medication they need.

We provide bowls, litter pans for cats, fresh towels and blankets for bedding, as well as kuranda beds for larger dogs. We do not accept bedding or toys from home to avoid personal items being lost.
