Health Certificates
A health certificate is documentation that your pet meets the requirements to travel either domestically or internationally. The requirements vary by destination.
If you are planning a trip with your pet, be sure to visit the USDA website for requirements for pet travel by country.
https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel
We also recommend you contact your airline and destination country’s embassy (if applicable) for their specific requirements. Please see below for more information about our services.
What We Offer
To ensure your pet meets all travel requirements, a consultation appointment is required before scheduling a health certificate appointment for:
All international travel
Domestic travel to destinations outside the 48 contiguous United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories)
A consultation fee of $125 applies for this initial visit.
-
This appointment allows our veterinarians to review your pet's travel requirements and identify any additional steps needed before the official health certificate can be issued.
During the consultation, we will:
Review your travel destination and planned travel dates
Discuss destination-specific entry requirements and important timelines
Review your pet's medical records, including:
Vaccination history
Microchip information
Required bloodwork or laboratory testing
Previous health certificates or other relevant documentation
Perform a physical examination
Determine whether any additional vaccinations, testing, treatments, or documentation are needed before your health certificate appointment
Please bring copies of all relevant records if your pet has received care at another veterinary hospital. This includes vaccination records, laboratory results, and microchip registration information. Complete records help us verify that all travel requirements have been met and minimize the risk of delays.
-
Travel regulations can be complex and often have strict deadlines. Missing documentation, expired vaccinations, incorrect microchip information, or incomplete testing can delay—or even prevent—your pet from traveling.
By reviewing everything in advance, we can identify any outstanding requirements early and help you complete them before your departure date.
-
The initial consultation is $125. Please note that this fee is separate from the health certificate appointment fee. If you are traveling with multiple pets, there will be an additional consultation fee of up to $125 per additional pet.
The estimated cost of the health certificate appointment (performed right before travel) is dependent on the requirements of your destination. For the travel examination and health certificate preparation, a base cost of $300-$400 per pet should be expected. If your destination requires USDA endorsement, you should anticipate $450-$600 per pet. These costs are estimated, not total or final costs, and do not include additional fees that may be incurred due to individual destination requirements (examples listed below.)
Our team will review the anticipated timeline, discuss requirements, and provide an itemized estimate of expected costs during your consultation.
Health certificate related costs to expect:
Health certificate preparation
Physical Examination
Vaccinations
Laboratory testing or bloodwork
Parasite testing or treatments
Microchip implantation
USDA endorsement and shipping fees (when applicable)
