COVID-19 PROTOCOL

Occoquan Animal Hospital’s top priority is the safety of our clients and your pets, as well as our doctors and team members. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these past months of curbside service. We are excited to announce that as of Wednesday, May 19th, we will begin allowing you to accompany your pets inside the clinic during visits! Please understand due to the size of our clinic, we will still be operating with some restrictions to continue maintaining the safety of our staff and clients. We will be allowing ONE client inside with their pet as a representative during the visit, to be present during the exam and speak with the doctor. Any other persons will be required to wait outside in their vehicle. Occoquan Animal Hospital will be requiring anyone who wishes to accompany their pets inside to wear a mask, covering their nose and mouth for the entire duration of the visit. Staff will be wearing masks and disinfecting all surfaces between visits. Of course, if you prefer to remain in your vehicle for the visit, just let us know and a doctor can speak with you over the phone.

OUR LOBBY REMAINS CLOSED. We very much appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to ask clients to check in immediately upon arrival to our parking lot by calling or texting us at 703-491-1400. If you are unable to reach us by phone, please knock at the front door and wait for someone to be available to assist you.

We ask clients to remain on-site in their vehicle while waiting for your pet to be seen. If you are not present and we are unable to locate you, your turn in line will be skipped. If you need to leave during your visit, please let our front desk know by calling or texting (703) 491-1400. 

Once checked in, please wait in your vehicle with your pet until it is their turn to be seen. When it is your pets turn, your veterinarian’s assistant will come to your vehicle and bring ONE representative inside with your pet(s) for your visit. You will be required to wear a mask if you are entering the building. If you would prefer not to wear a mask, we can assist you curbside and the doctor will speak with you over the phone. 

Once inside the building, please keep a reasonable distance between yourself/your pet and any other clientele and their pets. When checking out after your visit, you will be directed to wait seated in our lobby until our front desk staff has your invoice ready. Please wait until you are called up to the desk to pay as we need to keep our walkways clear for staff and pets. 

MEDICATION / FOOD PICK UPS, SURGICAL PATIENT DROP OFFS, BOARDING DROP OFF/PICK UP: PLEASE CALL OR TEXT US AT 703-491-1400 TO CHECK IN. A staff member will assist you outside! We thank you for your patience and understanding as our lobby remains closed. 

SURGICAL PATIENT PICK UP/DISCHARGE: PLEASE CALL/TEXT US UPON ARRIVAL. A staff member will bring you inside when the doctor is available to discharge your pet.

If you decide to text us to check in please provide the following information:

  • First and Last name on your account
  • Pet’s name and reason for visit
  • Phone number to be reached during visit
  • Make and color of your vehicle
